Training Methods – Be the Leader Your Dog Loves, Trusts & Respects!

Does your dog misbehave, not listen, run the home? Does your dog think he’s in charge? Most dog’s will if they believe you are not in-charge. Pack structure is very important to a dog, if you’re not in-charge, they will be, because someone needs to be, according to the dog. Teaching pack structure and canine communication will change the dynamics in your “pack”. The first part of our lesson is teaching you this amazing education, that helps resolve the behavioral problems.

Dog Behavioral issues and Obedience Training. I come to your home at a time convenient to everyone in your household. The first lesson is between two to three hours (versus weeks or months by other methods). In the first session, you will see dramatic improvements in your dog’s behavior. We will work on obedience training, Sit, Stay, Come and walk to Heel (to start). Then we will work on Behavioral Issues such as Aggression, Barking, Jumping, Door Rushing, House Manners, etc. You just practice between lessons. The subsequent follow-up lessons, we refine and add on to the goals you have for your dog.I do not use pinch, choke or shock collars, nor treats or clickers. You will learn to better communicate with your dog, by understanding canine communication (body language and voice tones). Once you are in charge of your Pack – you’ll see a calm and happy dog!

Customized Training

Kyle-Anderson-222x300.jpgAll dogs are not the same, so we vary our approach based on each dog’s personality and temperament and what will work for that dog. We will also vary the dog behavior training to suit the family’s specific needs and lifestyle, the dog’s environment and what YOU do or don’t want from your dog.

BEHAVIOR

Wendy has been very successful working with a variety of negative dog behaviors. Our training programs are ideal for dogs with behavioral issues such as barking, jumping, door-rushing, aggression, pulling on the leash, separation anxiety, sibling rivalry, nipping/biting, leash pulling, etc.

OBEDIENCE TRAINING

All dogs need to learn to be obedient and they love it.  The basic commands are: Sit, Stay, Come, Heel and Down. I teach owners to train their dog’s themselves to create the best bond possible.  It’s fun and easy once you know what to do.  If you want your dog to listen to you, to respect you and love you, training should be done by you!  I teach owners to Be the Leader Your Dog Loves, Trusts & Respects!

SOCIALIZATION

A very important part of training. Many dogs have issues walking past or interacting with other dogs and people. They have not been properly socialized. We begin by teaching them to interact properly around the home. Once we have worked past this issue in every day situations, we may plan a visit with “My Little Pack of Dog Trainers” at the dog park. It is important that your first visit to a dog park be a positive one. Your dog will meet My Little Pack of Dog Trainers (Lily, Sophia and Paco). Both Sophia and Lily are Certified Pet Partner’s Therapy Dogs. Your dog will learn to socialize with non-reactive dogs (just your dog and my dogs) for a play date! If your dog is so inclined, we can also teach them to use the agility equipment!

Social Outings, also include taking your dog to stores that accept dogs to teach them to be well-behaved and obedient around other dogs, people, sounds, smells, activity and loud noises.  Once they’re well socialized and obedient, it’s time to take your AKC Canine Good Citizen test!

Prior to meeting Wendy I didn’t think it would be possible to take my dog Merida in public, she was very misbehaved even in the house and broke a window however after the first session there was already a huge... behavioral difference with her. Thanks to Wendy, Merida received her Canine Good Citizen award, and is very well behaved in public and I feel confident taking her everywhere with me that allows dogs. I highly recommend Lead Of The Pack, it has made a world of difference.read more

Just after one session with Wendy, our two little mutts are like different dogs! Walks are less stressful, they bark less - even our regular house guests were impressed by the new way our dogs greeted them at the door.... Most importantly, they seem SO much happier! They are calmer, more playful, and all around far more pleasant dogs. We're only 3 trainings in and I can't wait for more. Thank you, Wendy!read more

He’s more relaxed, happy, and enthusiastic about his training. We... couldn’t be more thankful for Wendy and her services in ensuring we get the best out of our dog and vice versa. I do not recommend Leader of The Pack and let me tell you why. I have a Yorkie who was 6 mo old in February 2020 when I purchased the Gold package which includes the “Good Citizen Certification”. I had to pay the $1095... up front before our first meeting. That should have been my red flag. Our initial meeting was reviewing the packet, signing paperwork and some training. My daughter’s dogs were present which was inconvenient because Wendy was focusing on all of them rather then only my Yorkie. I wasn’t very impressed since I was expecting an initial 3 hour session. I followed what she called “homework” and learned very quickly my little puppy girl was stressed walking outside. I learned she was afraid of just about every noise she heard. I called Wendy and she assured me my Yorkie would get better with confidence. We met another time, it was raining so we trained inside. My little Yorkie did very well inside but when I tried outside she was extremely stressed again. I knew she was not going to pass a “Good Citizen” test and that was okay. I was hoping she would be a good therapy dog. She doesn’t have the temperament. Pandemic hit cancelling our next meeting. In May I contacted Wendy via email and asked for a partial refund. The foundation training was $595 which is basically what I had received. I was told there would be no refund. I have not been contacted by Wendy regarding the training sessions already paid for since then. I’m owed 4 more one hour sessions. There has been no behavior modification as the program claims. My Yorkie is now 10 months old and still stressed every time we walk. So much so that she cannot focus on her training and pulls all the way home choking herself in the process. My current goal now is to get her to walk with as little stress as possible. I am more than extremely disappointed with this program. Had I met with Wendy first I would not have paid for this program. I know every puppy is different and there are never guarantees. I’ve owned Beagles and Yorkies and I have used private trainers in AZ. I know the basics, I searched out Leader of The Pack for behavior issues which they failed. I have to assume responsibility for blindly paying for a service prior to evaluating the trainer. Shame on Leader of The Pack for requiring payment before meeting the client.read more

Adopted a husky-malmute mix from shelter. He was sweet but hard to control and aggressive towards my 15 year old aussie-shepherd mix. Leader of the Pack answered my call promptly, set up an initial evaluation session... and I hired Wendy. She trained both of us. I have the confidence to control him now and he tries his best to keep pleasing me as every day passes. I highly recommend Leader of the Pack Home Dog Training.read more

I cannot thank Wendy enough for helping us with my newly adopted adopted dog Penny. When I adopted her, she was aggressive towards my other dog Cosmo. The two of them got into a fight and we had to take Cosmo to the... vet. My choices were to either keep Penny and sacrifice Cosmo and my 2 cats well being or return her to the shelter, neither of which were options I wanted. I found Wendy through a web search and she came to our house. She taught us about how dogs function in a pack and how to take back control. Since the first session, Penny had NEVER again been aggressive towards our other pets. I can't express how much relief I felt to know that Penny would not have to be returned to the shelter and develop even more fear than she had before. I went ahead and added Cosmo to the training plan after that as well.I recommend Wendy to people all of the time because I know first hand that dogs CAN change even when it feels hopeless!!read more

It is an amazing feeling to get your life back and be in charge of your dogs; not the other way around. We called Wendy as a last resort, thinking our only alternative was to get rid of one of our dogs. Our story: We... have 3 rescue dogs, a male and 2 females, that were adopted at different times. They get along for the most part, but on occasion the 2 girls get into really bad fights, ending with us in urgent care and vet bills in the $500 range each time. Once we had our first child, we knew we couldn't have them fighting any longer, but once it happened, we knew we had a tough choice to make. We couldn't fathom getting rid of one until we did everything we possibly could to try to help the situation, so we decided to invest in professional help.Training: The first thing we noticed about Wendy when entering the house was how she commanded control. She spent time teaching us dog psychology, diet and training techniques for our different needs. We diligently worked with our dogs and saw improvement very quickly. My wife and I became the "leaders of the pack" and our two girls realized they did not have the option to fight over dominance because we were in charge. Additionally, we heeded Wendy's advice about changing the dogs' diet to a healthier option, as well as getting one of our dogs joint vitamins because her arthritis was so bad she could barely put weight on her back legs which made walking virtually impossible. Within a few weeks we noticed a big difference in our dogs' bodies. Fat pockets were disappearing, they were looking leaner, and just acting happier. Our dog with arthritis has pep in her step again, walking around our neighborhood no problem! We're amazed at the improvement in their quality of life (and ours!).It is a wonderful feeling being able to take the three dogs on a walk together with our infant in her stroller and enjoy the moment. We even get compliments from our neighbors at how well-behaved and trained our dogs are!Our favorite part of Wendy's technique is the patience and time she spends with you. She never rushed us to be done with the visit and really wanted to make sure we had exhausted all questions and felt completely satisfied with her training. She even scheduled us a bonus training visit to follow up with our progress with the 3 dogs.Thank you, Wendy! We love having our house back and our 4 legged babies getting along so well!read more

Wendy was instrumental in helping us with our older set in her ways dog a few years ago. Her advice was sound and effective. When we decided to adopt a puppy last month, our very first thought was “We have to call... Wendy and have her be with us from the start. “. Best idea ever. She made the introduction of the two dogs smooth and calm. She worked with me every bit as much as she did with our pups reassuring and coaching me every step of the way. She has responded quickly to question and addresses training issues thoroughly and with great patience. You cannot find a better trainer.read more

Our recently adopted 6-year-old dog's behavior was vastly improved after a 3-hour training session with Wendy Blanch of Leader of the Pack. Now we know the basics of being pack leaders when walking him and modifying his... behavior at the front door with visitors. We signed up for the Foundation Training package, a total of 4 hours of private at-home training—3 hours for first visit & 1 hour followup—and it was well worth the investment. Wendy is very direct in her instruction, and her method got us great results right away. We are quite happy with our experience with Wendy!read more

Wow! I'm not even sure where to start other than by saying how happy I am. I hired Wendy to train our new large lab that we got from the shelter but she had all 3 of our dogs (two smaller dogs) under control in... minutes. I never thought this to be possible. I never really thought that dog training is more "people" training than anything. Its teaching me how to handle and teach my dogs and they just follow the leader. I'd highly recommend. You need to be open to being critiqued on what YOU are doing wrong in order to correct your dogs behavior issues. Be open minded and willing to work at it with your dogs. There is no miracle pill that makes your dog just be perfect it takes effort on your part but Wendy gives you all the information, direction and help to do so. By the end of our first session my large dog was no longer pulling my arm off on the leash and all 3 dogs were no longer going bananas every time someone came to the door. These were my 2 biggest issues. Both corrected. Truly happy and worth the money.read more

The best thing we did for our new puppy was pick Wendy from Leader of the Pack Home Dog Training. As soon as Wendy walked through our door you could tell she had the full respect and attention of our dog. She not only... teaches the basic commands, but the psychology and behavior behind having a dog that is well adjusted and respects you as the leader of the pack. She does all this without the use of treats, shock collars, or other gimmicks. We now have a well behaved dog that is fun to have around and who we feel comfortable taking wherever we go.
